Chapter Meeting Held Jointly with Mid-Atlantic Chapter and Penn State Student Chapter

On March 13, 2019 the Penn State Student Chapter of the ISEE hosted the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter and the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the ISEE for a joint meeting at Penn State University. In attendance were 18 ISEE Chapter members and 12 Student Chapter members. Mohammad Rezaee, Ph.D., Faculty Advisor opened the meeting with welcoming remarks and introductions. Jose Priante Quiala, Student Chapter President and Joelson Patricio Manuel, Student Chapter Treasurer started the session by asking each ISEE Chapter member to introduce themselves. The Student Chapter then presented a thank you gift to each Chapter member in attendance.

Patrick Lang, ISEE Membership/Education Foundation Manger highlighted the ISEE organization, membership benefits, networking, and scholarship opportunities. Guest speaker, Tom Hairhoger, Divisional Technical Manager, Austin Powder Company then gave a presentation titled, “Using Electronic Detonators in an Underground Mine.” An open discussion about internship opportunities followed. Donated industry promotional items, including an ISEE Blasters Handbook, were raffled off to the students.

The Student Chapter invited the Eastern Pennsylvania and Mid-Atlantic Chapters back to their meeting next March and the students were invited to participate in the November 2019 Penn State Drilling and Blasting Conference.
